DESCRIPTION:In their presentation\, Himmelgreen and Romero-Daza will focus 
 on the history of the Center for the Advancement of Food Security and Heal
 thy Communities (CAFSHC) at the University of South Florida.\n\nThey will 
 illustrate the ways in which academics can partner with diverse stakeholde
 rs to address pressing issues affecting local communities.\n\nWorking toge
 ther with a regional food bank\, Feeding Tampa Bay (FTB)\, and with other 
 community partners\, CAFSHC has conducted research and program evaluations
  on innovative food assistance and nutrition education programs aimed at r
 educing food insecurity and improving health outcomes in vulnerable popula
 tions.\n\nThey will also highlight the training opportunities available to
  students and discuss the intersection of anthropology and public health.\
