Analysis Seminar

"The 2D quasi-geostrophic equations in Holder spaces" by Elaine Cozzi from OSU in BEXL 322.
Abstract:  We outline a proof of short-time existence of solutions to the surface quasi-geostrophic equation (SQG) in Holder spaces.  To avoid an integrability assumption on the initial data, we introduce a generalization of the SQG constitutive law.  Time permitting, we describe how these Holder solutions can be used as an approximation sequence to prove existence of solutions to SQG in uniformly local Sobolev spaces.  This is joint work with David Ambrose, Daniel Erickson, and Jim Kelliher.
