The OSU School of Language, Culture and Society Anthropology Lecture Series presents "Revisiting Stories and Voices of the Rogue River War" with guest lecturer Ashley Cordes from the University of Utah.
About the talk: The Rogue River War (1853-1856) between Indigenous peoples and settlers ‘in’ Oregon is historically overlooked and storied through settler-colonial lenses. In this talk, Ashley shares her participation in a digital restorying and archaeological investigation into the war in light of digital advancements in archaeology and communication. In doing so, she proposes a method referred to as a digital constellatory autoethnographic mode of Indigenous archaeology (DCAM) to help Indigenous and ally researchers have more honest engagements with histories.
