Auditions: Spring One-Acts 2024

The Spring One-Acts 2024 will feature six original short plays written and directed by OSU students. The line-up includes:

by Sophie Brown
Directed by Zoe Morrison

Daniel returns to his family's home in an attempt to reconnect with his siblings.

DANIEL: (early 20s) a young gay man who was kicked out by his parents

JOAN: (early 20s) Daniel's older sister, caretaker who has the same beliefs as her parents

JAMIE: (teen) Daniel's younger brother, happy and charismatic kid

by Jennah Campbell
Directed by Lillie Evans

Two former lovers die and process their "unfinished business."

RAVEN:  An artist in their mid-20's. Taking a break from college right now. Previously dated August. Prefers sweeter drinks.
AUGUST: A university "lab student," also mid-20's. Very driven in their work. Previously dated Raven – dumped. Prefers stronger drinks. Affectionately called "Augie" by Raven.

Z: Almost definitely "Azrael" from the Bible, a character who was often seen as the "angel of Death." Could also be referring to the Azrael of Islamic heritage, which separates the soul from the body. Regardless, the "vibe" is there. Most likely appears to be around the age of the other two characters given Raven's immediate familiarity and looser manner of speaking with the character. Acts as the bartender and instigates the scene. Also reveals other information as the show progresses.

The Statement of Rhonda Carter
by Mircalla Addams
Directed by Lydia Dapkus

Following the death of Rhonda’s lover, caused by an unknown entity, she is forced to recount the chilling night full of questions, while being interrogated by a police officer.

RHONDA CARTER: Early 20s woman; all nerves. Someone full of love, but ultimately ruled by fear.
JAY WARREN: Early 20s woman; Rhonda’s lover. Bold and brash, a student of the occult.
OFFICER/THE DARKNESS: Unseen horror beyond human understanding, gender irrelevant.

Godfather Death
by Corri Jackson

Directed by Fable Schuyler

The grim reaper raises a mortal son to teach him the meaning of justice.

DEATH: The impartial bringer of death.

THE FATHER: An older man, hoping to give a better life to his son.

THE SON: A young adult, eager to fill his life with his wants and own desires.

by Parker Oates
Directed by Addison Hoppe

Belle and the Beast
by Ella Cave

A tale as old as time; one feisty young woman must survive alongside her beastly yet pitiful kidnapper in his expansive mansion.
