Auditions for Oregon State University Theatre’s Spring 2019 production of Sense and Sensibility will be held March 3 and 4 at 6:00 pm on the Withycombe Main Stage on the Corvallis campus. Withycombe Hall is located at 30th and Campus Way.

When their father dies unexpectedly, the Dashwood sisters and their formidable mother are left with a meager inheritance and few options. The kind and patient Elinor and her passionate younger sister, Marianne, face the challenges of growing up and finding love within the rigid structure of English society in the 1790s. This charming adaptation by Kate Hamill, based on Jane Austen’s beloved novel features a flexible ensemble cast of 10-12 performers.

Auditions are open to all OSU students, staff, faculty, and area community members. Auditioners should be prepared to do cold readings from the script, games, and movement exercises. Most roles in the production play 2-3 characters so be ready to show your range and have fun! Scripts are available for checkout in the Withycombe Theatre Main Office 145.

There will be a cast read-through/meeting March 17. Rehearsals will begin April 1 and run regularly Sundays 12-6 and 6:30-10:30 pm Mondays-Thursdays. Tech/dress rehearsals run May 4-8 and performances are May 9-11 and 17-19. All cast members must be available for all tech rehearsals, performances, and strike. Please go over your schedules and bring any conflicts to the audition.

For questions concerning the audition or rehearsal process please contact the director, Elizabeth Helman at Elizabeth.helman@oregonstate.edu
