Becoming an Ecologist: A discussion and informal reception with OSU Professor Emeritus John A. Wiens
About this Event
2501 SW Jefferson Way, Corvallis, OR 97331
John A. Wiens is widely known and respected for his long career as an ornithologist, community and landscape ecologist, and conservation scientist and his leadership roles in multiple universities and non-profit organizations. In his new book "Becoming an Ecologist," Wiens explores how one's background and interests, life's contingencies, and scientific, organizational and popular culture affect professional trajectories. The book is neither a memoir or a self-help book, but provides practical guidance and numerous reflections on decades of discovery.
Please join us in conversation and celebration with John at this free event. Copies of the book are available for advance, discounted purchase from the OSU Beaver Store (see attached), and we will hold a raffle for a number of additional copies.
The event's co-hosts are the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute; College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences; Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences; Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society; and Department of Integrative Biology.
