DESCRIPTION:Join faculty leader Sunil Khanna to learn more about the Botswa
 na Global Health Internship Program that offers OSU students hands-on glob
 al learning\, cross-cultural training\, and community-based work opportuni
 ties. This program targets students from diverse academic backgrounds and 
 interests\, including public health\, nursing\, agricultural sciences\, en
 gineering\, environmental sciences\, social sciences\, etc. Student intern
 s work as part of a team of interns and professors on projects related to 
 understanding local cultural practices and beliefs\, the impact of infrast
 ructure on everyday life and health\, education and health infrastructure 
 and services\, community food and nutrition\, in-clinic and outreach servi
 ces provided by the local community clinic and health outposts\, and relat
 ed topics.\n\nThe Botswana Global Health Internship Program offers student
 s an opportunity to gain a first-hand understanding of community perspecti
 ves on health and health care (health needs\, social and cultural determin
 ants of health\, informal health care\, availability and utilization of st
 ate-supported health care services\, etc.)\; and understanding how to work
  with youth and community stakeholders to develop culturally sensitive\, l
 ocally appropriate\, and technologically innovative programming to meet th
 e community needs in several areas\, including youth employment and empowe
 rment\, children with disabilities\, intimate partner violence\, alcohol a
 buse\, and sexual and reproductive health.
