Dr. Isaac Madsen from Washington State University will be presenting "Fertility and Applications of 2D Root-Soil Imaging." Seminar Description: Digital technology has made studying the roots considerably easier and less expensive using flatbed scanners as rhizoboxes. Images of fertilizer-root interactions have been used to successfully develop fertilizer rate and source guidelines. Images of pathogen-root interactions show promise for distinguishing between tolerant and susceptible crop varieties as well as management techniques for ameliorating disease pressure.
