Learn from an alum, J.R. Giska, P.E. Environmental Engineering (ENVE 2013, M.S.) J.R. graduated with a Master’s of Science in Environmental Engineering from OSU in 2013, with a previously obtained M.S. in Geological Sciences from the University of Oregon (2010), and a B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Texas (2008). Upon graduation from OSU, J.R. began working as a Process Environmental Engineer at Intel’s Ronler Acres facility in 2013 where he was responsible for maintaining industrial waste treatment systems and modeling waste emissions from the constantly evolving semiconductor manufacturing process. In 2017, J.R. began working at the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, and in 2018 he obtained licensing as a Professional Engineer in Oregon, and took on the role as the program engineer for the Cleaner Air Oregon Program, DEQ’s industrial air toxics program. In this role, J.R. leads technical staff in reviewing and approving risk assessments, and works with agency staff to develop program materials and support programmatic policy decisions and rulemaking.
