Follow the water: Monitoring our planet's climate from space
by Mike Freilich, CEOAS Courtesy Faculty, Earth Science Division Director, Science Mission Directorate, NASA (retired)
Earth's changing climate presents humankind with profound challenges.
Our ability to observe the planet’s environment – including Earth’s water cycle – with such precision and accuracy is testament to our species' technical and scientific capabilities. With a focus on tracking Earth's water cycle using instruments on orbiting satellites, this talk will present key trends that have been illuminated by spaceborne observations. Freilich will explore how these measurements are revolutionizing our understanding of the Earth as a complex, integrated system – ultimately helping us to guide policy decisions and improve the lives of all people.
