Everyone is invited to attend this live Zoom event with social geographer Christine Eriksen. In their recent book "Alliances in the Anthropocene: Fire, Plants, and People," Eriksen and art historian Susan Ballard examine how human impacts on the planetary system are being felt at all levels, from the geological and the arboreal to the atmospheric. In this talk, Eriksen will draw on case studies from the book to examine the agency of fire, plants, and people within a changing climate.

Christine Eriksen is a Senior Researcher with the Risk and Resilience Team at the Center for Security Studies at the Swiss Federal Institute for Technology. With a particular interest in social dimensions of disasters, her widely published and award-winning research has focused on case studies in multiple countries and continents, including Australia, North America, Europe, and Africa. Christine gained international research recognition by bringing human geography, social justice, and environmental hazards into dialogue.
