DESCRIPTION:Everyone is invited to attend this live Zoom event with social 
 geographer Christine Eriksen. In their recent book "Alliances in the Anthr
 opocene: Fire\, Plants\, and People\," Eriksen and art historian Susan Bal
 lard examine how human impacts on the planetary system are being felt at a
 ll levels\, from the geological and the arboreal to the atmospheric. In th
 is talk\, Eriksen will draw on case studies from the book to examine the a
 gency of fire\, plants\, and people within a changing climate.\n\nChristin
 e Eriksen is a Senior Researcher with the Risk and Resilience Team at the 
 Center for Security Studies at the Swiss Federal Institute for Technology.
  With a particular interest in social dimensions of disasters\, her widely
  published and award-winning research has focused on case studies in multi
 ple countries and continents\, including Australia\, North America\, Europ
 e\, and Africa. Christine gained international research recognition by bri
 nging human geography\, social justice\, and environmental hazards into di
 alogue.\n\nSCHEDULE\nThis lecture is part of Spring Creek Project's lectur
 e series "Lookout: Envisioning Futures with Wildfire." Talks in the series
