This space will be facilitated by Stronghold, an organization working at the intersection of restorative justice and racial justice.
We recognize that racism and white supremacy are forms of historical and ongoing harm that compound and contribute to the ruptures we experience internally, interpersonally and collectively. Our pedagogy and practice centers healing; draws on folks’ lived experience; invites real-time self-reflection and interpersonal practice with regards to harm and accountability; and emphasizes relationships rather than self-reliance amidst racialized conflict.
Our affinity group spaces are designed to bring our attention to our cultural inheritances and the ways our racial conditioning both lives inside us and expresses itself through us. Our affinity group work centers personal and community accountability, shame resilience, and truth-telling.
Together we engage in practices that allow us to show up rooted in our wholeness and dignity.
We ground our white and white-passing affinity group work in education, practice and accountability. We aim to provide a space of rigorous learning without reproducing patterns of intellectualizing and disembodiment. As such, we ground our learning in our felt senses and ask white folks to track the connections between curricular content, body sensations, emotions and new actions and behaviors. We hold each other accountable to keeping our work “close to home,” focusing on self-inquiry, lived experience, and personal responsibility in transforming the conditions of white supremacy “from the inside out.”
