Contemplative dance invites organic, improvisational movement, set to either the ambient sounds of a quiet room or a playlist of evocative music. The session is gently supported by an experienced guide. Dancers leverage interior qualities of attention, awareness, courage, compassion, nonattachment, relinquishment and intuition to explore expression and embodied creativity. Contemplative dance instructors are rooted in a range of embodiment techniques and may draw from those and the dance methodologies of Emilie Conrad's Continuum, Barbara Dilley's Contemplative Dance Practice (CDP), and others. These are drop-in style sessions, open to all levels and abilities.
