Raymond Malewitz, associate professor of literature at OSU, delivers our first Critical Questions lecture of the year with "Hell Yes, They'll Liquidate: Literary Counter-Histories of Foot-and-Mouth Disease at the US-Mexico Border."

This talk provides new insight into how literary narratives — as seen in the works of Mexican and US authors such as Rafael Bernal, Ramón Rubin, William Burroughs, and Larry McMurtry — structured North American conceptions of biopolitics in the mid-20th century following foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks in cattle.

Free and open to the public. Refreshments provided.

Accommodation requests related to disability can be made by contacting Molly McFerran at 541-737-3244 or molly.mcferran@oregonstate.edu.
