Oregon Sea Grant is offering in-person summer day camps at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. In this camp, students ages 13-14 explore the diverse ecosystems of the Oregon Coast, including the sandy beach, estuary, and beyond. Campers learn how to use different techniques and tools, including a foldscope (hand-held paper microscope) to investigate the flora, fauna, and other non-living components that make up these unique habitats. We will build and deploy plankton light traps, conduct mark and recapture studies, and more!
Camp begins on Monday, July 26 and runs daily, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., through Thursday, July 29.
