Enjoy delicious soup from McNary Dining Center and take home a beautiful ceramic bowl made by campus and local artisans during the Empty Bowls Fundraiser 5-7 p.m. March 7

Proceeds from the event go to the food pantry at the Basic Needs Center, University Housing and Dining Service’s Full Plate Fund) and the local non-profit Fresh & Local, First!

The cost is $5 to $20 sliding scale donation for a handmade bowl that’s yours to keep along with a hearty soup, bread and dessert. Students can use their dining plans to donate.

This year is the 20th anniversary of Empty Bowls fighting food insecurity on campus. The event is sponsored by Anthropology and Food in Culture and Social Justice and by University Housing & Dining Services with support from the OSU Craft Center and local artists. 

The first 150 guests are guaranteed a bowl. Kids five and younger eat free. If you cannot attend, you can still donate directly to the organizations listed above to help create a vibrant local food system.
