Engagement@OSU Webinar: Get in the Pit: Community-engaged Research and Teaching through a Punk Lens
About this Event
In the June webinar, Professor Sam Logan will explore how punk informs his (a) research program that views young children’s access to mobility technology and their ability to participate in physical activity from a rights-based perspective and (b) teaching efforts that embrace zine-making as a core experiential learning experience. This session introduces punk as more than a music subgenre but rather as a guiding philosophy grounded in the principles of a do-it-yourself-ethos, diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, and co-creation of knowledge. Professor Logan will position the use of generative AI in direct conflict with a do-it-yourself-ethos and will challenge attendees to question and interrogate what ethical use of this technology means in the context of higher education. Turn your speaker volume up to 11 and get in the pit with Professor Logan to explore punk in academia.
