In this seminar, Hyosin (Dawn) Kim, PhD will discuss her research on improving end-of-life care access and quality, particularly focusing on how home health care services can increase hospice utilization and enhance the quality of end-of-life experiences for patients and their families. Her presentation will also address healthcare disparities in end-of-life care, especially among diverse populations, and explore innovative approaches to promote care equity through population-based research that considers patients’ needs, preferences, and social determinants of health.

Hyosin (Dawn) Kim, PhD, is a Research Assistant Professor in Health Management and Policy at Oregon State University’s College of Health, where she has served since November 2022. Her research focuses on critical areas of healthcare delivery and policy, including healthcare system reforms, alternative payment models for serious illnesses, and the integration of medical and social care. With a PhD in Social Policy from Brandeis University’s Heller School and previous experience at institutions like Oregon Health & Science University and Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Kim brings valuable expertise to her current work on National Institute on Aging-funded studies, particularly in improving late-life care for people with dementia and developing aging trajectory files from multiple datasets.
