Discover estuaries and the critical habitat they provide as we explore the adaptations of plants and animals that call the Yaquina Bay home. Participants will travel out to the mudflat located at Hatfield Marine Science Center to collect and observe a variety of organisms. Then back in the wet lab space, families will learn how to make measurements and collect data, learning first-hand about critical information that scientists use to monitor the health of estuarine organisms. Special Note: This lab and field experience involves live animal interactions as well as being outdoors on a mudflat. Please bring appropriate gear such as rubber boats, layers of clothing, and water bottles to stay hydrated.
