Dr Rob McGavin is employed by the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries within the Forest Product Innovation Team. Based in Brisbane at the Salisbury Research Facility, he holds the position of Research Facility and Project Manager. Dr McGavin has over 20-years experience in forest product research and has extensive experience in wood processing, seasoning and timber utilisation. In 2016, Dr McGavin completed PhD studies on the “Analysis of small-log processing to achieve structural veneer from juvenile hardwood plantations”. In addition to managing numerous large scale, multi-party, Australian and international research projects, Dr McGavin also manages the facilities at the Salisbury Research Facility which is the only dedicated forest products research facility in Australia.
