Please join us for the upcoming Geography, Environmental Sciences, and Marine Resource Management Seminar. Dr. John H. Matthews of the Alliance for Global Water Adaptation, will present “Climate Change and Water Management: Catalyzing Change for the Good” on Friday, January 18, from 3 - 4 p.m. in Burt Hall 193.
About Dr. John H. Matthews:
John H. Matthews is the Coordinator and co-founder of the Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA), which is hosted by the World Bank and the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). His work blends technical and policy knowledge for climate adaptation and water management for practical implementation.
About the talk:
Climate impacts are triggering increasing levels of alarm among decision makers and citizens globally but particularly in the US, which lags behind many of our peer nations in climate adaptation. In contrast, the water community has been developing innovative responses to uncertainty, increasingly extreme events, and governance challenges in a non-stationary context. Matthews will describe a variety of approaches that integrate progressive approaches within water science and governance with finance, global policy, and infrastructure design and operations.
The seminar is free and open to the public.
We hope to see you there!
