About this Event
Everyone knows blueberries are delicious parcels of anti-oxidants, but how many are aware blueberry plants can live for decades if proper pruning keeps up the production of young fruiting wood?
We will share best practices worked out through years of research by Oregon State University scientists. This class begins with how to choose among different varieties. Then we discuss soil preparations and planting techniques, followed by cultural practices including fertilizing, watering, and pruning. Finally, we review pest and disease problems and how to manage them.
Our speaker Jane Collier is an Oregon State University Extension Master Gardener who teaches for the award-winning 10-Minute University™ Program. Jane’s expertise encompasses growing vegetables and small fruits, insect pests, and container gardening. Jane has many instructional videos to her credit.
This online seminar is free with advanced registration. Even if you cannot attend live, register anyway. A recording link will be sent 2 days after the class.
Jane gained extensive experience with growing blueberries, having operated a ‘U-Pick’ blueberry patch on her farm. Today, she and her husband subsistence farm their five-acre home garden which yields a bounty each year.
