Thursday, June 20, 2019 6:30pm
About this Event
645 NW Monroe Ave.
http://blogs.oregonstate.edu/downwinders/events/ways-of-knowing-and-radiation-exposure/The now-decommissioned Hanford nuclear site along the Columbia River in Washington state produced plutonium for most of the 60,000+ weapons built for the U.S. nuclear arsenal during the Cold War. The site developed a notorious reputation for nuclear waste contamination.
Join us as Kathleen Flenniken, the 2012-14 poet laureate of Washington state, reads poetry from her collection Plume on the history of contamination from the production of plutonium for nuclear weapons. Pat Hoover, a Hanford Downwinder contaminated by the pollution, will respond to the poetry.
Free and open to everyone.
