Topic: Blue whales around the world
Join us for a talk as we explore various blue whale research projects conducted by some of the Marine Mammal Institute's (MMI) leading blue whale researchers including: a National Geographic-funded blue whale tagging research project to discover the winter habitats of blue whales that feed along the California coast during the summer, the status of pygmy blue whales in New Zealand, and explore the world of bioacoustics and blue whale song.
This seminar will be the conclusion of the MMI blue whale skeleton celebration happening earlier in the day at Hatfield Marine Science Center from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. where folks will hear from the folks involved in the project and explore the new skeleton exhibit. We encourage you to join us in person and spend the day at Hatfield!
COOKIE & COFFEE SOCIAL: 3-3:30 p.m., Food or drink is not allowed in the auditorium, so there will be a cookie and coffee social in the GVMSB atrium before the talk- just bring your own mug (no paper cups will be provided).
HYBRID FORMAT: The speakers will be onsite with in-person and online viewing options- everyone is welcome. No registration required.
