Healing and Resilience: A Space for Activists

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. denounced the three evils of poverty, racism and militarism. Students who engage in activism around these issues at any level can experience burnout and exhaustion. This event will offer a space for dialogue around the continued impact of the trauma of these structural forces, as well as an opportunity to engage in healing practices from various cultural traditions. The goal will be to help students strengthen the resilience needed to continue to engage in activism. As Audre Lorde said, "Caring for myself is no self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare."
