 Commemoration events on Aug. 7 and Aug. 9\, including an exhibit at the Co
 rvallis Museum open now through Aug. 7.   Please help the harms of nuclear
  weapons be seen so that they may never be used again. \n\nThis public eve
 nt is cosponsored by OSU CLA SHPR Peace Studies program with the local com
 munity. \n\nPlease join us to recommit to peace and problem solving of the
  planetary polycrisis amid the tragedies wrought by nuclear weapons and wa
 r. The local annual Corvallis Commemorations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki inc
 ludes two free public events and an exhibit of posters created by the Hiro
 shima Peace Museum on display at the Benton County Corvallis Museum from J
 uly 29 until Aug. 7 (note: the Museum is closed on M and T). \n\n\nOn Frid
 ay\, Aug.7  from 6:30 p.m.\, until dusk our community will gather for refl
 ection and education at the local Corvallis - Hiroshima - Nagasaki Commemo
 ration at Howland Plaza in Riverfront Park on 1st & Madison\, Corvallis\, 
 Oregon. Origami peace crane folding\, Koto music\, an educational display 
 of actual photographs and tabling by community groups begins at 6:30. The 
 formal  program begins at 7 pm\, with the Corvallis Mayor for Peace\, Char
 les Maughan and keynote speaker Dr Vincent Intondi\, Executive Director of
  the Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility\, the Oregon health nonpr
 ofit that partners with the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weap
 ons. Local community peace advocates and OSU students will participate wit
 h music by Masumi Timson\, traditional Koto instrumentalist and Halie Lore
 n\, internationally recognized singer. The events are sponsored by a conso
 rtium of local grassroots groups in the Hiroshima Nagasaki Planning Commit
 tee and the OSU Peace Studies program. The events conclude with a processi
 on led by the Dances of Universal Peace to the new bridge to view a flotil
 la in the Whilamut (Willamette) River evoking the floating lantern ceremon
 ies (Toro Nagashi) held in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. \n\n\nOn Sunday Aug\, 9
  from 1-3 p.m. at the Corvallis Museum\, join us for an all ages  Sadako F
 amily Peace Day for more art\, music\, movement\, and a children's story r
 eading.\n\nThis public event is cosponsored by SHPR Peace Studies with the
