Topic: An Update on the Planetary Boundaries Framework

We are at a critical juncture in the Earth System.  To prevent irreversible environmental damage, we must cut carbon emissions in half by 2030 while bolstering nature.  This presentation will both introduce and offer an update on the Planetary Boundaries framework while empowering participants to create important changes that improve planetary health outcomes.

            Dr. Irana Hawkins is a planetary health specialist.  Her singular contributions have spanned clinical nutrition, public health, and planetary health research.  She’s a Certified Naturalist, a Native Plant Steward, and a Master Recycler-Composter.  Dr. Hawkins has first-authored dozens of publications and edited Promoting Biodiversity in Food Systems (CRC Press, 2019).  Her new book Nutrition Security for Planetary Health (CRC Press) was just published.  www.routledge.com/9780367721206
