DESCRIPTION:Please note the new date of Feb 12th\n\nSpeaker: Sam Gurr\, Ass
 istant Professor\, Department of Fisheries\, Wildlife\, and Conservation S
ciences\, Hatfield Marine Science Center\, Oregon State University\n\nTop
ic: Aquaculture amidst global change: From multi –omics to organismal re
sponse in shellfish models\n\nThe Gurr Lab takes an integrative approach t
o tackle pressing questions facing sustainable seafood production. A pilla
r of their research employs abiotic challenges (hormesis\, simulated trans
 plant\,\n\nand cross-/multigenerational) to characterize acclimatory and a
daptive traits underpinning response to stimuli and whether constitutive o
r biphasic dose-dependent patterns can benefit production of economic spec
ies. At OSU Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station\, the Gurr lab works
collaboratively with the\n\nPacific Oyster Genomic Selection team to chall
enge selectively-bred oyster families and collect cellular and -omics data
key to link function to phenotypic outcome.
