HMSC Research Seminar- The First Energy Source for Life, An Hypothesis

Speaker: Dr. Martin Fisk (Emeritus Professor of Oceanography, OSU-CEOAS)

Topic: The First Energy Source for Life, An Hypothesis

Mixing of high-pH hydrothermal vent water with seawater has been proposed as the source of energy for Earth’s first life. This talk hypothesizes an alternate energy source for the first life. This energy is available on most planets in our galaxy that have liquid water and basalt.
