Topic: Apex Mothers : Elucidating the secret lives of momma sharks and their babies

Linking movement patterns at multiple spatial and temporal scales to information on the timing of reproductive events is critical for successful fisheries management plans,  especially for highly migratory and/or commercially harvested species. To address these conservation research priorities in sharks, the presentation will describe the use of innovative, non-invasive, approaches to determine  gestation state, track pregnant individuals, as well as identify the exact timing and locations of parturition sites for these charismatic megafauna.
