Careful grazing management is the most important way to maintain a healthy pasture, but sometimes things go wrong and the desirable forage plants are lost from a field. In this class, we’ll review all of the steps required to successfully replant a pasture or hayfield. Seedbed preparation, species and mixture selection, planting methods, and management of young forage swards will be discussed. We’ll also check out some recent forage plantings at SOREC. Taught by Gordon Jones.
