Dr. Helen Chmura, Postdoctoral Fellow, Williams Lab, University of Alaska Fairbanks, will present a seminar entitled "Keeping Time with a Warming World: Seasonal Time-keeping Mechanisms and the Response of Arctic Animals to Global Climate Change."
Dr. Chmura is a physiological ecologist who studies physiological flexibility and how flexibility affects species' responses to global climate change. She is particularly interested in seasonal biology and the mechanisms that regulate life history events such as migration, reproduction, and hibernation. She employs integrated field and laboratory approaches to study terrestrial birds and mammals and focuses on species that live in regions experiencing rapid environmental change.
