Dr. Jamie Cornelius, Assistant Professor, Eastern Michigan University, will present a seminar entitled "The Ecophysiology of Change: How Songbirds Mnaage Survival and Reproduction in the Face of Environmental Unpredictability."
Dr. Cornelius is an ecophysiologist who investigates the mechanisms animals use to cope with unpredictable and extreme environmental events. She combines natural history, endocrinology and biotelemetry to advance scientific understanding of wild animals in their natural environments.
Dr. Cornelius has spent the last decade trekking through northern coniferous forests around the globe in pursuit of nomadic finches that cope with high degrees of weather variability and resource uncertainty. She is searching for unique insights into broader theories of biology to better understand what limits fitness when conditions become unpredictable or extreme.
