It’s a Wonderful Life is a fast-paced classic filled with unique characters, humor and heart. It’s about a man in a small town who wrestles the needs between money and doing right by those he cares about. It’s a Wonderful Life is produced as a live radio play and features a variety of great, bold character voices, live sound effects and a classic story that will remind you why this production is just as timely today as it was when it first premiered.

This production will feature 7-9 actors who will all be required to use multiple voices and help create the audio world of It’s a Wonderful Life. This will be a LIVE production on the Withycombe Hall Main Stage. While some early rehearsals may be held remotely, the planned rehearsal and performance schedule will be in person.

Characters List
George: A just man who keeps trying to do the right thing but isn’t sure if he’s made a lick of difference in the world.
Potter: The Villain. He wants the whole town for himself and will do almost anything to get it.
Mary: The heart of the play. Her and George’s love story guide the first act of the play.
Clarence: A Flighty, flitty Angel…who just wants to get their darn wings.
Violet: Someone meant for a big city but stuck in in lil’ old Bedford Falls.
Two Foley artists: These actors will be instrumental in creating the sound effects and the audio world of the play. They will also play numerous smaller roles and require multiple character voices.

Numerous smaller roles requiring fun and unique vocal choices.

All performers will play multiple roles and will be on stage throughout the entire production.

At the auditions the actors should be prepared to do cold readings from the show, show their best radio announcer voice and be prepared to show off all their favorite voices they do. Also, we will be working on creating sound effects during auditions.

Auditions are open to all OSU students, staff, faculty, and to community members.

As per the current University policy, auditioners must wear a mask or facial covering for the audition when inside Withycombe Hall.
