Bio: John Parkinson is a postdoctoral researcher in the Weis Laboratory at Oregon State University. He studies the molecular ecology of coral-algal symbioses under climate change. Current projects including developing the Aiptasia sea anemone system as a model for coral-microbe interactions, revising Symbiodinium systematics and taxonomy, and generating biomarkers to improve coral restoration programs throughout the Caribbean. He earned his PhD in 2014 from Penn State University and a BS in 2009 from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at University of Miami.
