Lunch will be provided!

Join the MathWorks OSU team to learn about what’s new with MATLAB, new AI and GenAI tools, using MATLAB with Python, and tips for developing multi-part engineering systems.

Whether you're starting your studies, deep into your research or preparing to launch your career, MathWorks experts will share how MATLAB and Simulink are applied in industry and how they can increase your teaching and research effectiveness.

Why attend? The session will answer commonly asked questions, such as:

  • "Why use MATLAB when there are open-source alternatives?"
  • “Simulink seems hard to get started with."
  • “Isn’t MATLAB just for engineers?”
  • "How does MathWorks integrate AI into their software and workflows?"
  • "Isn’t MATLAB just used in academia?"

Event Schedule:

Session #1, 10- 11 a.m.: "Low-Code Machine Learning with MATLAB ."

Low-code solutions for machine learning are on the rise. Engineers and data scientists work with large amounts of data in a variety of formats such as sensor, image, video, telemetry, databases, and more. You use machine learning to find patterns in data and to build models that predict future outcomes based on historical data.

Shortening production cycles and lowering project costs, low-code applications also help bridge the gap between innovative solutions used by data scientists and the engineers on the ground.  In this session, we explore the fundamentals of low-code machine learning using MATLAB. You will learn the techniques available in MATLAB to quickly explore your data, evaluate machine learning algorithms, compare the results and apply the best technique to your problem.

Lunch session, noon to 1 p.m.: "What’s New with MATLAB: Increasing Your Learning, Teaching and Research Impact."

Meet Lisa Kempler, research and education strategist, the new MathWorks engineer for OSU, and learn about the resources available to OSU faculty, students and staff!

Session topics include:

  • MathWorks tools available to Oregon State
  • Getting started tools for MATLAB & Simulink in engineering, science, math, CS
  • Tips to increase your research impact and community engagement
  • MATLAB in real-world industry applications and how it boosts job readiness
  • MATLAB AI and Gen AI tools (including the new MATLAB Copilot)
