Must have a current Lifeguarding certificate (copy required). This course is designed to update a lifeguard certification before it expires. The program includes the same skills taught in a full lifeguard class but in a more abbreviated class session.
Participants must successfully complete a skills test the first day of class to continue in the training. The skill assessment includes, a 300 yard swim, retrieval of a 10-pound brick from 7-10 feet deep water, and two minutes of treading water. Additional information about the required skills is available from the Safety Program Coordinator. Participants must have a copy of their current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, first aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
