Our organization has two goals in mind: to address the needs of underserved communities, and to increase the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent, and socially conscious physicians. In order to achieve these goals, we host an annual conference to bring resources to our members and touch on important issues pre-medical students are facing along their journey to medical school matriculation. This year our conference, “Curating Cultural Competence: Opening the conversation for cultural competency in the medical field” opens a dialogue about the importance of educating future physicians about culture within medicine to promote more inclusive and aware health care professionals that can more effectively treat a variety of patients. Along with this conversation, we will include workshops to address the most common questions premeds have about applying to medical school and how to prepare. We will conduct many mock interviews to help student prepare for medical school interviews as well.
