Satyagraha is sometimes translated from the Indian Gujarati language as “love force” or “truth force”. In what is perhaps a bit of a nod to the African-American pop-culture of the 60s, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said, “we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.”
A panel will explore King’s legacy of spirituality and activism. Panelists will reflect on how their work and/or activism, like that of King’s legacy of activism - for civil rights, labor unions, the poor people’s campaign, and against the Vietnam War - is centered in, and inspired by, their religious, secular and spiritual purpose and meaning making.
