Showcase - Tell your story
The average number of people who apply for any given job is 118. Personal websites or portfolios are a great way of standing out from the crowd by demonstrating the competencies you would list on a resume or talk about in an interview — they allow you to show and not just tell. According to a study, 56% of all hiring managers are impressed by a personal website more than by any other personal branding tool. Registering a domain name for a portfolio website and then maintaining the website takes a lot of time and effort. The existing tools like LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, etc. are focused on networking, job search, company reviews, etc, rather than showcasing a portfolio. Therefore, they have limited usefulness when it comes to showing your skills. My Master’s project, Showcase, makes it seamless to create a personal website, to show your skills with demos — and it’s free. Showcase lets users create demos of their work with a built-in screen recording feature and integration with GitHub to dynamically reflect ongoing changes in the user’s portfolio. In an evaluation of Showcase, a user study revealed that 100% of users believed that Showcase would let them express their skills more effectively than LinkedIn.
