MS Final Exam – Ke-Jo Hsieh

Resumaker: Makes your resume better

Do you enjoy the process of finding a new job? Most people don’t. In fact, studies [1] shows that a Software Engineer takes an average of 168 applications to land a job. Sending 168 applications is already very time consuming, let alone you might have to revise your resume to match the desired keywords on the job discretion. Tweaking resumes manually is a very time consuming and trivial task. This is why we present Resumaker as a tool to eliminate this painful process. Our studies show that it takes around 15 minutes for an average person to tweak an existing resume to fit a specific job post, but with Resumaker, it takes only 3 seconds. Resumaker not only improves the efficiency of applying for a job, but it also improves the quality of the resume by filtering and prioritizing the experiences that the hiring manager would want to see the most. These results show that Resumaker could open a new era for job seekers to spend less time in revising resumes and use their time more effectively.
