PRAx and the School of Visual, Performing, and Design Arts Presents: Music à la Carte: Takohachi Q Ensemble

Now in its 55th year on campus, the School of Visual, Performing and Design Arts’ lunchtime “brown bag” concert series, Music à la Carte, relaunches with a new schedule and location in the beautiful Toomey Lobby at PRAx.

Takohachi Q Ensemble opens the series with a vibrant program of Japanese culture that includes the music of Taiko drums, Shinobue bamboo flute, tsugaru shamisen, as well as voice and dance.

The quartet is part of Takohachi of Portland, a nonprofit organization established in 2007 to promote Japanese culture through music and performance. The group’s performances are a celebration of traditional and modern Japanese arts that captivate audiences with dynamic rhythms and intricate melodies. Each member of the ensemble brings a unique talent and passion to the stage, crating a harmonious blend of sound and movement that transports listeners to the heart of Japan.

Bring your lunch and head to PRAx for this monthly, midday music interlude!
