Of all the things that influence a child’s growth and development, the most critical is reliable, responsive, and sensitive parenting.

Effective parenting education programs have been linked with decreased rates of child abuse and neglect, better physical, cognitive and emotional development in children, and increased parental knowledge of child development and parenting skills.

Oregon Parenting Education Week is May 21-25, 2018. As a part of the celebration, the Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children & Families and the Oregon Parenting Education Collaborative will host a one day Parenting Educators Conference with an optional Training Institute the following day for professionals who work with families.

The conference (May 21) will be a day of keynote and workshop presentations covering research information, awareness, and practical application strategies that support effective parenting education.

The training institute (May 22) will provide in-depth and focused training on one of three topics -- advanced facilitation, motivational interviewing and emotional intelligence.

For all professionals working with children and families.
