DESCRIPTION:Science Pub presents:\nLearning to adapt to change is a daily p
ractice. “Think global. Act local. Now.” is a saying that reflects geo
spatial and temporal perspective. Large complex issues such as climate cha
nge\, energy and food security present us with challenges and the need for
  thoughtful\, creative\, and complementary solutions. Renewable energy\, o
n land and at sea\, are among the many potential exciting solutions in con
sideration and practice. There are\, however\, no silver bullets and findi
ng lasting solutions come with the need for careful consideration\, being
explicit about the tradeoffs\, and minimizing the negative impacts. Respon
sible offshore wind energy generation off the coast of Oregon is the conte
mporary issue on the docket for the May 9th Science Pub. Come listen and d
iscuss aspects such as time and timing\, place and space\, nascent technol
 ogy\, and environmental and socioeconomic considerations.\n\n Presenter:\n
