Beth Stormshak, PhD will discuss her groundbreaking work on the Family Check-Up Online (FCU-O), an innovative eHealth adaptation of the evidence-based FCU program that provides family-centered prevention services through a web-based platform. She will share how this digital intervention helps overcome traditional implementation barriers in schools and communities, particularly focusing on its success in improving parental self-efficacy and child behavior through features like online assessments, personalized feedback, and skills-based learning modules, while also highlighting its potential for reaching families in remote and rural areas.

Beth Stormshak, PhD, the Philip H. Knight Chair and Professor at the University of Oregon, has dedicated 25 years to groundbreaking research in child and family mental health prevention. As the director of the Prevention Science Institute and CEO of Northwest Prevention Science, Inc., she specializes in understanding risk factors during early and middle childhood that lead to problem behavior in adolescence. Her most notable contribution is the development of the Family Check-Up model, an innovative intervention program that can be implemented online through schools and community health agencies. Stormshak’s research, which has been funded by prestigious organizations including the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Education, has significantly impacted both education and prevention science fields. Her work particularly focuses on family-centered interventions designed to reduce problem behavior and promote successful developmental transitions, with an emphasis on enhancing parenting skills and behavioral management.
