Effective assessment tells the story of what students know and are able to do after completing your classes. That narrative has become more complex in the era of generative AI. The challenge of ensuring that assessments provide an authentic measure of student learning warrants a shift from products to process: scaffolding skill development and intentionally designing assignments that emphasize human thinking and effort. Drawing on a framework developed by the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), this session will offer practical strategies faculty can apply to strengthen assessments and deepen student learning.
