Bringing Research into the Classroom: The Promise of Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences
About this Event
This session explores the promise of Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) as a powerful approach to bringing authentic research into the classroom. Rather than treating research as an opportunity reserved for a small number of students, CUREs embed inquiry, discovery, and knowledge creation directly into course design, making research participation more accessible, inclusive, and meaningful. Drawing on the principles of quality teaching, this presentation examines how CUREs can deepen student engagement, strengthen critical thinking, and foster a stronger sense of belonging and intellectual ownership. The session will also highlight practical ways instructors can adapt CURE principles across disciplines, course levels, and institutional contexts.
