Marit Bovbjerg, PhD, MS, is Clinical Assistant Professor of Epidemiology in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences at Oregon State University
Her research focuses on two distinct areas of US healthcare.
First, she studies US maternity care, particularly midwifery and community birth for low-risk women. She is also interested in physical activity during pregnancy and the postpartum period, and potential effects on maternal outcomes.
Second, she studies complex chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes complicated by hypertension and heart disease), and mHealth applications to increase the quality of care for these patients.
Marit earned her PhD in Epidemiology and completed pre-doctoral training in reproductive epidemiology (NIH training grant) from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and an MS in Health Evaluation Sciences from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.
Marit has served as the Director of Data Quality for the Midwives Alliance's Statistics Project (MANA Stats) since 2012.
This seminar is co-sponsored by the Epidemiology Program.
