Safe, Sexy, Savvy: An Insider’s Guide to Buying, Using and Caring for Toys

A dildo is a dildo is a dildo - simple, right? Unfortunately, in the unregulated, profit-focused world of sex toys, that's not always the case. Navigating a toy shop when there's no guarantee that the words on the packages are the truth is at best unsettling, and at worst a risk to your health and safety.

  • Why are some dildos translucent and some opaque?
  • Can you ever get rid of that heady shower curtain smell?
  • Can any g-spot toy be used on a prostate?
  • Is "jelly" the same as "gel," and is "gel" the same as lubricant?

In this class we will talk through different types of toys, what they are used for and what they are made from, including vibrators, dildos, kegel exercisers, anal toys, and the keystone of every good toy bag - lube. We'll talk about what it really means for something to be "body safe," and what you're risking when your equipment doesn't qualify. Whether you're new to toys or have a whole arsenal already, this class is your opportunity to level up your expertise.

This event is part of Boldly Me - a week of events focused on healthy sexuality and promoting inclusivity for diverse gender identities and sexual orientations. This week is all about celebrating the uniqueness contributed by each and every member of the OSU community through events designed to promote healthy relationships, increase understanding of consent, and showcase individuality in identity!

Events are brought to you by the Wellness Agents in collaboration with campus partners and generous donors. Stay tuned for more information.
